About Leanne
My journey and dedication to helping others, have been deeply fulfilling. I have completed a Bachelor of Human Services with a double Major in Counselling and Child and Family Studies, and an accreditation in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy as an EAAPI Model EAP Practitioner. I have found that my life experiences and challenges have significantly shaped my understanding and empathy, providing valuable insights into my professional practice. I am currently pursuing a Master of Social Work through Griffith University.
I began my career in the education sector, where I spent seven years working as a Teacher's Aide, Student Welfare Worker, and Return-to-Work Rehabilitation Officer. These roles allowed me to support students and staff through various challenges, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. I then transitioned to the non-government sector, initially contributing to an Intensive Family Support program and later serving as a Domestic and Family Violence Specialist. These positions have enabled me to work closely with individuals and families, providing critical support and advocacy during some of their most vulnerable times.
In addition to my professional commitments, my husband and I own and manage a cattle property in the Scenic Rim. We share five adult children, and in my personal time, I find solace and balance through connecting with our horses, dogs, and cat. This connection with animals reinforces my appreciation for well-being and the importance of maintaining a balanced life.
People seek counselling for a variety of reasons, often tied to their unique circumstances and challenges. These may include emotional support and understanding, relationship issues, life transitions and adjustments, self-discovery, trauma and abuse, family dynamics, addiction and behavioural challenges, workplace and career concerns, or the need for immediate support due to a critical or unexpected event.
As a counsellor, my role is to provide professional, client-centered support, facilitating self-exploration, fostering resilience, and promoting personal growth. I strive to walk alongside my clients through life's challenges with empathy and a non-judgmental approach, helping them navigate their paths towards healing and well-being.
